Default My newest favorite vintage Singer

Actually, my favorite is usually whichever vintage Singer I am using at the time although nothing purrs like my 201. But I just really fell in love with my 401, fairly new to me and not used much. Oh my gosh! It's so fast! I think it rivals my 301. Who knew? I knew it was top of the line in its day but had no idea what a really awesome machine it is. I tend to gravitate to the much older machines so the 401 and rocketeer have been largely ignored. Silly me. I'm rambling but I get so excited about my machine collection, purring machines, beautiful stitches, gorgeous fabric - not to mention being housebound for ages and not being able to share my passion!! Thanks for listening!! Have fun everyone!

I have a 404 (straight stitch only) and it's super dependable.

I have a 301 and a Rocketeer now. I love them both and have been thinking about looking for a 400 series to add to the herd.

I dearly love my 301, am restoring a little 99K, but don't tell anyone, I'm *really* craving a 401 as well! And, well, if I don't strictly *need* it, I'd love to own a Rocketeer for the sheer glamour of it! I never knew this Vintage bug could bite so badly!

I got a 201 and a 401 at the same place. Aren't they lovely? Cough Paid just over scrap price for them. 201 is nearly pretty now but it is still stuck in the bobbin area.
401 Won't look pretty unless I totally redo the finish. The back actually looks worse but it will turn by hand. Outside circle knob won't move (yet?) and there is an issue at the bobbin. Hope springs eternal.

Regarding the 401 itself, i used it the other week to do a bag for the kid. The 401 was a pleasure to use for sewing on the patches and gave a good result

You are so right. What ever vintage machine I am using at the time is my favorite. Sometimes the older the better.. Right now it is my singer 66-16. It is a great machine and does the job with perfection. Maybe someday I will have a 401 or a 301 to add to the 14 machines I have already.

My favourite machine is still the 15-91 and that won't change, but i do like the 401 as a 2nd machine

ps: no more machines for me now
