She's a 221J. Boy is she a beauty! If there were any way I could afford her I would! I think she's a tad high but then it's the only one I've seen! I took a pic.....in an antique mall. Expected any minute the owner to come over and tell me to knock it off.
so whaddaya all think? Should I go back and try to negotiate? All of their stuff was really over priced...
not sure they would even budge.

Not sure if it's the photo or not but the case looks a tad shabby/dirty. I'd certainly use that as a bargaining chip. Again, not sure if it's the photo, but looks like there may be some wear on the front of the fold up portion of the bed. Pick it apart, make sure everything works smoothly. You won't know if you don't try. And if they won't make a deal that you're willing to live with, then walk away and you'll more than likely run into another one at some point. At least that's what I keep telling myself when I see them for more than I'm willing to pay!

I think that's the first beige one I've seen too. I have to ask: What were they asking? The different colored ones tend to go higher because they're less common than the black ones.

She is pretty! I wouldn't mind paying $300 for her if everything worked well. I don't know what they were asking so it will depend on how much she's worth to you.

I also wouldn't mind paying $300 for one - since I almost never see them go for that cheap. I figure I'll have to be willing to part with $300-$500 to get one, depending on the shape it's in.

I can't see it real well, but that price tag looks like $575 or $525 to me. I've never seen a beige one.

I enlarged the picture and that tag reads $535. I would go back and "dicker" if I really wanted it. jmho

Yes the price is $535. I thought it high mostly because everything in the place was ridiculously high! And yes I thought the case a bit worn and ratty too. But the machine itself is very clean! No wear to the bed, etc. I will have to think about it. Maybe sell a couple of my black ones....lol.

I would take a pass on that high price; might not even try to bargain with the seller; but DH did just that on a black one a month or so down in AL ($275, if I remember right) and we came home with it because it was a birthday gift for me. I would not have paid that much for it. The seller wasn't even willing to consider anything less; so made me mad, and I would have walked right on out. Oh well, he bought it, and it is a great little machine and I didn't even need a FW, I have three other black ones and one white one. I have already pieced three quilts on it.

People pay $300+ all the time for the common black Featherweights, so $500 doesn't seem too bad for a version that is not common.

I'd go back and see if they will knock some off of the price. The worst they can do is say no.
