Default Shouldn’t Have Passed On That One

Have you ever passed up a chance to buy a sewing machine, and then wish later that you hadn’t? I’ve done several, but a couple of those passes still bug me.

One was a Singer double-needle post-bed machine at a decent price, but at the time, I couldn’t imagine what I would ever use it for.

Another time, I pulled into a motel in Kansas for the night, and noticed a yardsale going on in the empty lot next door. I looked at a couple of old Singer sewing machines (Singer 1200 & Singer 16-188) at a very good price, and told them I’d think about it while I got checked in to my room. When I got back, they were sold. I am still beating myself up over that one.

There was a White 15 clone (blue... sigh) at my local thrift store back in November. Of course, now I want one.

And, of course, that mocha 301 that I turned my nose up at because it was mocha.

Two so far but finances come first. A black 301 in a cabinet for $50 and a little Bernina free arm in a red case for only $16. I don't know the model on that one but have seen similar ones sell for well over $100. I shouldn't even look when I don't have the money.
The good thing about it is there will be other machines.

I agree. I have finally disciplined myself to not look at anything when I don't have the money. I've blown my budget for up to another couple months at least.

I'm trying to tell myself to buy this one so I don't have the same regret when it's gone. It's a FAAAAbulous price too! But I don't have the room for it. Where am I going to put it? Out on the deck?

They aren't shown in the photo so I'm thinking "no". I'm trying not to be interested in it so I'm not calling to find out right now. And besides, when I don't go look at it that won't be a bargaining point to get the price lower because I don't have room for it anyway. At least the needle plate that is almost NEVER included in this model 'cause it gets lost is actually there!

Plus, I already have one! So what if it's not in a handsome table already, and is missing the dang needle plate, right? I wouldn't want to use it as a parts machine, cause I don't have room for this one!!!!.........!!!!.................

Pristine model 15 Sphynx treadle for $250. It was so new looking it was still glossy! Very expensive I know, but condition is everything and I don't think I'll see one like it again.

I saw the cutest red eye singer in a bentwood case at an estate sale, just yesterday. The key was missing, so I had no idea what was inside. They dropped the price to $20, I said I'd think about it. 5 minutes later, it was opened up with a screwdriver and sold while I was browsing upstairs.
