Default Singer 15-91 multiple threads at bobbin?

I’m getting a good stitch but when I stop and slide piece out from under the foot... there are 3 or 4 threads instead of expected 2? Also very difficult to pull out. I have adjusted tension both top and bobbin. Something is causing a “loop” or a catch at the bobbin case. Do not suspect timing. At a loss? Perhaps a bad bobbin case? Suggestions or experienced advice appreciated. The

Try slightly turning the hand wheel into a new position as you pull out the fabric. I suspect the needle isn’t in the proper position to complete the stitch.

I agree that it is probably as Tartan suggested that the needle and take up lever are in the incorrect position. The instruction manual tells how "To Remove the Work" at the bottom of the page as shown at https://www.manualslib.com/manual/94...page=21#manual The illustration that it refers to can be found at https://www.manualslib.com/manual/94...page=20#manual

Thank you! Only tested it once this morning but it seems to solve the problem. I’ll hold my breath and proceed onward through the fog!
