Hi, im Shannon and I'm new to all this. I recently came across an old electric machine in its own cabnet thats got the words "Dial Sew" and "142B super deluxe zig zag" on the front of it. I pluged it in to the outlet and couldn't believe it worked! It looks like its all metal and in great condition. I have no idea what I have here but I can not seem to find an owners manual anywhere. I have used a machine before with my mom years ago but dont really remember anything but pushing the leg/knee leaver to make the machine sew. This one has a foot pedal. I have no clue how to thread it. Any help is welcome.

Probably what you have is a "badged" Japanese made machine. A badged machine is a machine made by one manufacturer and he sells it to many different distributors and stores who would then put their name either by a plate or decal with distributor, store or other name. Consequently, there may be a lot of the same machine with different names on it. It probably has a JA or JC number on the underside. Not all JA and JC numbers are known but there are some that have been identified by certain characteristics.

Maybe Nelco, Morse, JC Penney, or Wards might have a similar machine that would get you started.
When I googled "142b" zig zag sewing machine, there were several different names with that model number.
Maybe check out manuals at:
You will probably want to oil the machine with sewing machine oil anywhere metal meets metal. If there are plastic or rubber parts, don't get any oil on those or where it could drop on the motor. If it has an external motor, the bearing could probably use a drop.

I don't even need to see a pic of your machine to tell you I have the manual for a 142b. Like Janey said, it was badged with several different names including Underwood, Simon, Remington and others. If you PM me with your email address I'll send you the manual.
