Question about the fiber gear and lubrication: Does the lube go directly on the fiber gear? I cleaned mine off as best I could with a damp cloth, but I didn't put any other cleaner or lubrication on it for fear it would hurt the gear or break it down over time. I haven't dealt with anything non-metal before, so I really wasn't sure about it. I'll have to pull off the handwheel and give it a little shot.

The Singer lube goes directly on fiber gear as in owners manual. Don't think it's necessary to pull handwheel but it wouldn't hurt.
