Adding to the 'herd'
I got these two machines over the weekend at an auction for $30 each. I really wanted the 1967 robin-egg blue all metal Singer. It was made in Great Britain and had all of the accessories and attachments with it. I don't usually go for machines much newer...and the plastic 1992 Quantum LE didn't really strike my fancy until I started digging through the accessories. They came in together and had business cards for a dressmaker's shop underneath. They were clean and well taken care of , so why not? It seemed a shame to split up the pair. I have a serious sewing machine addiction....

I have a blue Singer 338 that looks identical to your new blue Singer. Really nice machine.
I've not seen the other, though I recognize the Quantum name. It's a nice-looking machine, too.
Nice picture, too. The curtain fabric looks really good as does your furniture.
Edit to add: I just read Monopas' post. Is it a 348?

Yes, it is a 348 and it sews beautifully....that's the first thing I did when I got them home. (just a seam to make sure they didn't need anything) The lights work and they're as quiet as mice...I got extra feet, bobbins, manuals, singer tools and even oil. The quantum LE is an early stage embroidery machine...has letters and stitches programmed into it, it also sews well on knits. That's the one thing about these old vintage Singers, they like cotton, but not much else. The Quantum is also a free arm (the arm slides off) and I don't have one. I'll see if I can dig up a pic of my dining room...I love my colors...the walls are a deep burnt orange. Thanks for the compliments!

The 348 is belt driven, double belt driven, actually. There's a timing belt under the bed. So if it gives you trouble, that belt might need replacing.
Aside from my mother's Pfaff 1222SE (1980's), the 348 is the only machine I've had professionally serviced. I was thinking about giving it to a friend and wanted to be sure it was sound. That second belt made me extra cautious, as I've never worked on a machine that had one.
Too cute to give away. I'm still thinking about it.
