Default Bel Air 414 help

Hello all! First post here....My wife and I bought a Bel Air 414 sewing machine (folding desk type, not sure what that is called), we want to get some info on it, but most importantly we want to use it! I plugged it in and everything seems to move and work correctly (this coming from someone who has never sewn). Anyway, there is a part missing that I would love to know where to get. right in front of the needle on the base of the board there is a small cover that the bottom thread sits in, well the cover is missing...

Nice looking machine and table.

Looks very similar to a Singer 66 bobbin slide plate. Can you measure the length and width of the opening?

Mark is spot on, that slide plate is probably the same one used by the Singer 66 /99 and many other Japanese machines.

That machine should also take the Class 66 bobbins. Don't buy the ones at JoAnn or the other big box stores as they are hit and miss. Some won't even fit the older machines. If you order from Sew-Classic, pick up some Tri-Flow oil too.

That machine will purr for you.

For Tri-Flow oil try bicycle shops and hardware stores. I purchased my last three bottles from the bike shop next door to my LSMG and members here have reported some hardware stores are carrying it.

What a great find! Let us know if the slide plate is the same as a Singer 66. Love both the machine and cabinet. Welcome to the board!
