Default bobbin area noise? singer 404

This machine runs so quiet, properly oiled and lubed...I'm wondering if the noise I can hear is normal.

as hopefully shown in the images, it occurs when the top thread comes around to pick up the bobbin thread
Looking straight at the bobbin area, there is a two part metal area bottom right and the thread clicks when it comes through. No noise when wheel is moved by hand, quite a bit of noise when running at speed.

There is at least two threads in the first three pages of this forum dealing with noisy bobbin cases. I've posted on one maybe two of them. Find 'em, I posted pics of where to check the adjustments on one.

There is a good chance your bobbin noise is being caused by an improperly adjusted bobbin case cushion spring. Those can cause noise and mess up your tensions.

Not trying to be snarky or smart @$$ed, just got a big pain in my neck and a screaming headache. And I know those threads are h ere, but for the life of me I can't remember their titles.

Duh .... where's my sign?

I'm thinking it looks like the spring is too tight. You will have to adjust that. I think there is info in the service manual.

Try this thread. I'm having trouble with my Singer 500 also. Does your thread break/fray when you are sewing?

My first thought was if the shuttle path has been oiled, but this is probably too obvious.

Does it make noise when you use a metal bobbin?

My Singer 500 made a whole lot of noise in the bobbin area until the Tri-Flow worked it's way into all the nooks and crannies. I was gifted with this machine and it hadn't been used for years. It was so dry! It took five oiling sessions before it started to quiet down. Try Tri-Flow. I know Miriam doesn't like the spray, but I love it.
