Default Brother PaceSetter 1200 feed problem

Hi, just bought my first mechanical thrift shop machine. Looked so perfect in the store - like new. Anyway, the feed dogs and/or stitch selector will not work correctly. All stitches close together no matter how I set it, took it apart, cleaned and oiled and tried to see what makes what happen but have no idea how to try and fix it. I can't find anything on the web about this machine so hoping one of you has some ideas for me as to what I can do. Any help greatly appreciated.
