free Free Westinghouse Type E
It's raining (marginally working) machines! Someone dropped this dark gold beauty and his cabinet off at the shop and since we don't take cabinet machines and it only grudgingly turned over, so the boss said I could have it for free. I plugged in both plugs and they both take power. The light works and the motor doth protest mightily. I've never seen this machine before. The bed space is huge! It's not belt driven, it has a pin sticking out of the motor that turns the flywheel, has a vertical bobbin and it looks like I have to take off the tension assembly to get to the headplate innards. It's in pristine exterior shape and came with the cabinet and knee control but my guess is it's super gummy on the inside. I know nothing about motors so that'll be an experience.
The only markings are under the bed where it says "Type E". Anyone know of a good starting place for getting him back to rights? Also, what feet should I use? There's a weird large screw at the bottom of the presser foot bar that screws vertically up and down the shaft. You can see it fairly clearly in the third photo. It did not come with a foot. Thanks in advance!

head with spring loaded bobbin plate. Guessing it needs a bobbin case?

I have a Free Model CE with the same type of motor. First like motors of that vintage it has oil holes. Might just be dry.
Second, if it locks to the machine head like mine does, it uses a series of interrupted dogs and can be rotated till the drive wheel is too tight against the hand wheel.
I suspect the face plate will come off by removing the screw at the top and then working it off. You shouldn't have to remove the tension.
As for the rest of the questions I don't know the answers.

It looks like a Free Westinghouse model called an “ALB Rotary”. I have a couple of them, but I don’t know much about them. Mine have that “Type E” on them too.
They’re very similar to the couple of New Home “NLB Rotary” machines that I have, but with a different motor setup. The NLBs have decals on them that say “New Home Exposition 1889”.
Maybe search ALB Rotary for more information.

Trivia42, your presser bar looks similar to my White FR which uses top-clamp presser feet. I had purchased a full set of presser feet from Ebay a couple of months ago that didn't fit my machine and Cathy educated me that the set I had was for a Free Westinghouse machine which has a thinner space between the prongs that fit around the threaded part of the presser bar. I'll PM you with you details.
