or you could train yourself to activate the presserfoot lift bar with your left hand......I do realize that I use my left hand for sewing interchangably with my right....sometimes people ask if I am right handed or left handed...but I have only been burned by my 301A once, about 50 years ago.

You can buy an LED light at WM and other places.

I was watching myself as I sewed the rest of the banner last night and I saw that I do that too. Sometimes I'll reach through with the right hand for the lever and sometimes I'll reach around with the left hand. It all depends on just what I'm doing with the material at that moment. I like my fix better though. This Singer light is a lot cooler than the original.

Really? I did not know that. Been buying them from the LSMG and Sew-Classic. All they have is the old fashioned incandescent bulbs. I'll have to look for them.

Thanks for the heads up.

It runs off a battery and has a magnet on the end sticks on the machine - has a goose neck with bulb on the other end - check the sewing department -

I'd love one made as a replacement bulb but I don't know what there would be for that.

OK, I've seen those battery powered magnetic ones. I thought you meant as replacements for the regular bulbs.
I'll bet they're out there though. They're making LED automotive bulbs now, so small appliance bulbs can't be far behind if they aren't out already.

Well, I've already got a 2nd degree burn on my hand from the bulb in my HOTHER, so what ever an LED type bulb would cost it would be worth it to prevent more burns.

I've not seen any of that type for sewing machines yet, but I'll keep my eyes out and let you know what I find.

Check in the BBQ supply section of your stores...they make a light for BBQs that is magnetic, battery powered, goose neck LED...about $8.
