Capital
Has anyone heard of a Capital treadle machine. My friend and I bought one in very good condition on Sunday but I can't find any information on it. Thanks in advance for any information or where to look. I did try Ismacs.

I think some treadles were "badged" with the name of the seller, not the maker. I know I've seen treadles advertised here under the name of "Sangers", which was a local department store that disappeared in a long succession of acquisitions. If you will post a photo of it, some of our regulars can probably tell you the manufacturer.

Like bkay says, often the "name" on the machine is rather meaningless in determining what you have. (Unless it's Singer)
Though I'm pretty sure I've got a "Capital" out in the collection, and it's a 3/4 size VS machine made by Davis. "Capital" is such a generic name that I wouldn't be surprised if several companies used it.
If it's US manufacture, with a picture we can almost always figure out who the Manufacture is. By the early 1900's there weren't that many of them left. Davis, New Home, National, Domestic, White, Singer, Free ( I may be forgetting a few, but as you can see, not that many). Though there are probably over 1,000 different "names" on machines.
I even have New Home with the name "New National" on it.
