Default Child's Necchi Supernova Julia

I purchased one of these and it's so cute! Does anyone have experience with one of these? It sews a chain stitch and I would love for my granddaughter to use it but it does not stitch properly.

I immediately thought you had Julia Child's Necchi Supernova

Yes loads of people have them. "does not stitch properly" could mean anything. The vagueness of your problem is probably why you haven't had any replies.

A few questions in no particular order:
Do you have the manual?
Has it ever stitched properly for you?
Did you thread it properly?
Is the needle in the correct orientation?
Has it been cleaned and oiled?
Can you describe the resulting stitches?
Do you have some pictures of the machine, and the stitches?
What have you tried so far?

I've never encountered a toy Necchi that was called the Julia Supernova, though I do own a full size one.

though I suspect one toy chainstich machine operates much like any other toy chainstich machine, so hopefully someone with one can help.

Again I think I've misinterpreted! I imagined it was a full-size machine that could do a chain stitch. I have a supernova Julia in the shed and was looking forward to checking out its chain stitch abilities.

Card Crafter, is the machine a child's toy machine?

Yes it is a toy machine. I have taken it to two different repair shops and yesterday the last one told me that a bushing was worn and it was not repairable. Everything seems to work perfectly but it just doesn't pick up the chain stitch underneath. But oh well, it is adorable on the shelf!
