I'll keep looking for a 15-88. I really want a pretty one with the chrome bits in good shape. I've been looking for 6 months, maybe I'm just a little impatient.

I don't believe that the 15-91 handwheel, clutch assembly and fiber spiral gear can just be removed from a 15-91 and replaced with a spoked handwheel. Johnm

I had one with a burned out motor and I did do just that - I described it above.

Actually if you plan to use it a lot get one that has been beaten nearly to death.

OK, I see what you did, the inside flange on the horizontal shaft is much smaller than the flange that the handwheel would normally bare against as the clutch is tightened, but it will work. a 15-88 isn't too hard to come by, I have 2. Probably more uncommon is the Singer 201k-3 centennial that I got in 2012 for $25.

I believe I use a hand wheel from a dead 27 since the usual replacement wheels are shallow and won't fit the clutch. I used parts off the dead machine to fix quite a few messed up machines.
