That is most likely the serial number. Unfortunately, serial numbers on Japanese machines are useless to us because there are no available records to search like there is for Singer and other manufacturers.

Yes, transmissions are a weak point in Chrysler products.

And their wiring sucks. I turned wrenches for years and was usually pretty good at finding wiring issues but Chrysler made their wiring so much more complicated than it needed to be.

Do you still have the manual?? My daughter just picked this model up from the side of the road, but it didn't have a manual.
