Default Featherweight question

When you flip up the left side of the machine, it hits that metal screw thingy. What do you put on it so it won't chip off the paint?

You can make a cover for the flip up bed, but I haven't gotton to it. I have an old sock there.

Some folks use a short piece of warm and natural quilt batting with a slit near one end. Put it over the faceplate screw oriented so the slit is at the bottom, then fold the batting down over the face of the screw. Or- a clear sticky backed plastic half dome called a drawer bumper can be stuck on the screw.
