Default Finally got my Jones

Pony express was more of a pony wander this time, but it made it to my hands. 220 Motor, no controller or bobbins. Lots for me to tinker with. Does the arm near the handwheel control stitch length. I am guessing it does.

As found. Should be some fun.

You think it took a long time to get to you -- Good thing it didn't come by way of Denver, as you may never have seen it, as it would be hiding at my house.

That would be my guess, too. I had fun trying to figure out which way was reverse and which way was forward on my Junker & Ruh (Similar to your machine & W&W). I didn't have a manual or motor. Finally figured out that the hand wheel rotates opposite Singers. Then I had to figure out the stitch direction. Turns out down is forward, up is reverse. Your results may vary - that is how my machine operates.

Looks like it will clean up nicely.

Have you tried the W&W bobbin? I think the original bobbin, may not have had a center hole to start winding the bobbin. I can't tell about the bobbin winder on your machine. It looks like it may work similarly to a Franklin I worked on, in that you remove the belt from the hand wheel and put it on the bobbin winder. I can't quite see your bobbin winder. My Junker & Ruh doesn't have bobbin winder. I was able to use my Sidewinder to wind my only bobbin.

At least you have some sort of motor mount and know which holes it goes in.

I found some info regarding the Jones at

It does look like a fun machine.

Wow, Janey didn't ask for a full front shot.

Haven't tried the W&W bobbins yet. My sis had it. I sent a cousin's modern Necchi back with her. They live in the same town.

I am so far from winding a bobbin I am not worried. yet. It does turn and appreciated oil. Coffin top pics on the next post. The puppy is heavier than most of my other machines.

I thought it looked more like a CL ad than a post here.

I like "Iris eyes"

I still can't figure out the bobbin winder.

Can you just put a modern motor/controller combo one on - or are you trying to find a time appropriate one?

I would think that the position of & type of bobbin that the slot would be so you can put the bobbin thread through it before closing the slide so you will have enough thread and it won't get caught in the slide.

That is a nice top.

I also think it is neat that they have directions on the machine about the position of the take-up lever is to be in.

Iris's maiden name started with H. so she used Irish as a nickname So yea, Irish eyes were smiling.

I will probably swap motors or go for a hand crank hmmm if I can find one one this side of the pond. Probably worse than looking for Davis or White handcranks.

Yea, first shot was a a bit fuzzy. Learning a new camera.
