Default Foot Pedal Conversion On Necchi BU Mira

I purchased a Necchi BU Mira that was in a cabinet that used a knee controller. I want to be able to use it with a foot pedal. I noticed that the machine motor plug that plugged into the controller is a female plug that goes into a male plug in the knee controller. What do I need to do to make this into a foot controller instead of a knee controller.

Can you unscrew it and put it on the floor?

Get my son to re-wire it. I have my old Elna, and I didn't like the knee control, so years ago, he got a foot control and re-wired the machine for it. It was my first good electric machine and I still have it and will not part with it until I depart. Had to get a bank loan to buy it, way back when.
Guess I should tell you, son will not be doing another such as he is getting close to retirement and is on a 3yr. job right now.

Some of the Necchi cabinets were similar to Singers in that they used a foot controller set into a bracket up inside the cabinet. If that's the case you can remove the controller and use it on the floor.
