Default Garage for sewing machines?

I have three vintage sewing machines that I will be working on this summer. Is it all right to have them in the garage until I can get to them, one at a time?

yes. Totally alright as long as it's not an open garage.

Well if it IS in an open garage make sure it isn't too near the door... Even then if you have enough time and want to you can clean all the rust off and make it work again.

Temperature fluctuations and extreme heat/cold will cause damage in the shellac/finish on some machines. It may cause belts to crack or crumble, bobbin winder tires to disintegrate and other parts like nylon gears to suffer. One summer may not give you problems but climate controlled areas are preferred for long term storage. I have a few machines in the garage now, but they won't be there longer than a few months for the above reasons. I don't have any humidity issues where I live...

Thank you. My garage is closed, and these machines won't be there more than a couple of months, probable much less, because I am so anxious to get to them. And, it is dry in Idaho, no fear of rust here in that amount of time!

I have a few in my garage too although most of them are already in pretty sad shape so I try and work up the best of them first and bring them in as I can. In the winter I run the wood stove out that when I'm working and in the summer I open the door and run a fan both to make it nice for me to work AND to help control the temps for the sewing machines.

If you end up with too many it's all you can do! *Really, can you ever have too many??

I can only dream of having a garage for all of my vintage machines......
(That would be a really BIG garage!)
