My guess on the first one: Somebody didn't have the key or patience or common sense but they did have a big fat screwdriver and a feeling that they were "mechanical". Let's just be happy they didn't reach for a hammer first.

The second: the 3 in one oil proudly displayed like it's a good thing isn't overly encouraging but it beats the snot out of #1.

I forgot to mention that patcher on steroids that Steve found is way cool. A lot of good honest cast iron in that one though I have my doubts that the foot pedal is original. It doesn't look right to me. It could be the machine was hand crank originally then converted at some point.

Not a giggle. Just a Singer I haven't seen before. Looks like a decent machine.

Can't imagine that a machine like that could be used with a hand crank.

Maybe it wasn't a hand crank, looking closer, most likely not, but the steel plate attached to the base for the foot pedal sure doesn't look right either. Heck of a machine either way.

I have one of those and I have a clone of it. I'd take the clone - mine has nothing between the rear gears and the bobbin area - think lint and grease... The clone of it has a barrier. Maybe it is just my machine. If you go for it look down it's throat... LOL

I'm not really shopping right now, just looking to see what's out there. I did inquire about a free red eye but I doubt it'll come to me.
