The lock is open, the delivery person locks it after they put something inside (though often they don't). It's more for protection from the weather than security. Someone is here most of the time, but not always close to the house (like if DH is working in the shop). We don't have a sheltered spot for them to put packages.

Cathy,

The box mine is in is marked 50th Anniversary. Do you know what year that was? This is the first of this type of button holler I've gotten.

Joe,

I was just reading some stuff on that buttonholer, and you may be able to use it on a 66-1.

At the time yours was made, Famous had a C for non side clamp machines and a CC for Singer type side clamp machines. there was also an F style for Free made Rotary machines of that vintage.

I read that the 50th Anniversary was from around 1940, but I don't know how accurate that is.

those famous buttonholers work fantastic. I have three different models of it and they all work great!

Now that is an idea to try. Well, next spring or summer maybe, my 66-1 is now in the garage and too darn cold to dig it out and bring it in.

I will give it a try though.
