Default Hope you can help me.....

Hi, all. I'm new to this board and very new to vintage machines. I purchased a 201 6 days ago and I'm playing around with her getting to know how a vintage works. So far, she is pretty darn fabulous! I posted these pictures on another thread yesterday and got some very good information from folks here. I also posted the pics on a couple other sites. But, now I'm confused. I found this machine inside a sewing cabinet I was buying for my 201. I've been told that it is a 15 clone. My question is, which 15? One person said the 15-30 and two others told me the 15-90. It has the same base dimensions as the 201 but the harp dimensions are 6.5"w and 5"h. She sure is a cutie and sews a nice straight stitch. I will be taking her in for servicing and rewiring. The cords and plug are not in great shape and she needs to be cleaned. Hopefully, by the next time both of my machines need cleaning I will have gleaned enough info to confidently take care of them myself.

So, which 15 do you think she is cloned from? Thanks for taking the time. I appreciate your knowledge and advice!

It's not really a specific 15 they are called a clone for, it's the class. It's a 15 class machine, in that it uses the 15 class bobbin system. Very good machines IMNSHO, and yours is a very pretty one.

Thanks, Cari. So, she doesn't really resemble a specific Singer model just uses the same bobbins? I guess it doesn't really matter. I'm just curious and trying to learn.

Right, it uses 15 class bobbins and bobbin case. I love these clones, I have several. That pretty stitch can't be beat and the machines are tough and forgiving.

She resembles the Singer model 15-30 that was converted from a treadle to electric machine. The Singer 15-90 had a belt too. It also had a bakelite plug on the side where you plug the power cord to the machine. It's only a subtle difference. Neither of the Singer models had a lever on the top of the bed to lower the feed dogs. They and your 201 have a thumb screw under the bed instead.
