I have Treadle that belonged to one of my Great Grandma's. Not sure to which one because I never asked my grandma before she passed. I originally learned to sew on a Treadle when I was 9. My maternal great grandma taught me. She was the one that taught me how to quilt and love fabric :D

It needs some repair wish that Billy lived nearby and he could fix my baby so i could sew on he again.

I love my treadles but I am still building the arsenal of machines.

Here is what I have so far,

1900 Singer 24 Chainstitch
1910, 1911 Singer 27
1921 Singer 66-1 Red Eye (Back Clamp)
Universal 15
1963 Kenmore
1974 Kenmore 1320

And I am working on a 185J that is a complete basket case. All of these machines are treadled except the Kenmores. Even the 185J will be treadled (its just a 99K in a new dress).

I am looking for a W&W #9 right now and I would even take the Singer version if I can find one. But I have enough projects going right now to choke a horse, especially with Christmas coming up.

Sounds like a trip to the fabric store is in order..... :D

I have my great great grandmothers treadle that was carried out west in a covered wagon. At least that is what my grandmother tells me. It needs a little TLC but I want to make something on it. When I was a kid I used to sew paper bags together on the treadle at grandmas.

I have 3 treedle machines, two work with adjustments, I learned to sew on a treedle Singer... both of these 2 are Singers, but both need belts, the other is a New Home in a really unique cabinet, but needs a lot of oil, it isn't wanting to move, just got it, ...question I have is do you know where I can order belts for all 3?

I have a NewHome Treadle, with the coffin top. It is in really good shape. It needed a belt, found one in my local quilt shop. Now I have missplace a needle that came with it. Next time I am in Quilt Shop I will see about needles.
I like others learned to sew on a Treadle. My Mom had a Singer Treadle. I havn't used it yet But I want to . I know I will love it and using one you never forget how to treadle.

Billy.
I do have a Singer 1937 ( I think), but I can't get it to run, don't know what I am or am not doing, but think it is in the needle part, I would love to use it. I understand there is a site for Treadles, do you know of it and if so could you send it to me
Am brand new here, joined about 3 min. ago. So am not sure of the rules for this group but looks like a good one.

Wow, I don't feel so bad. I only have 3 treadles, most Singers. My Great Grandma's 1919 model 99 that my Mom learned to sew on, a 1940 model 66, a White Rotary from about 1915 currently being used as a table in the entryway. Plus 3 old electric portable, a late 20s Singer, a Hotpoint about 1920 and a New Home about the same age. Haven't learned not to suddenly reverse :D

I don't have a treadle *yet* but I am keeping an eye out for one at local flea markets, auctions, Craigslist, etc.
