I would keep the whole shebang. It's beautiful! I love my 401 in the cabinet. I can put it down into the storage and put my other machine on top for extra space but I don't. And as you know it comes with storage. They never have good prices like that here. You never know when you need backup. My backup is now just about my everything. It sews a mean jean 6 layer. I would be doing everything I could and you may want to check it out on Youtube. Wouldn't be surprised if they have videos for a Pfaff. I'm sure they do.

That is a beautiful machine and you are lucky to have found that jewel.

I just got a Pfaff 230 and I am dying to try it out. I already love it just looking at it and I named him Karl! He will be my next project. He is so heavy in a cabinet that I have to have help moving it. I hope he sews as good as he looks, I will post pictures as soon as I get him up and running. I do have the book and wheel and extra bobbins.

What a beauty. And the price was definitely right. Post again when you get him/her all cleaned up.

I had a Pfaff (older one for a few months, and never could get it to sew satisfactorily for me); post a picture of the bobbins you need and I'll check my extra junk stuff. PM me. Oh, and congratulations on a wonderful buy. It is beautiful.

My friend Amelia (QB name is Frudemoo) sold one for me. When she checked it so she could demonstrate it, I got a call from her. She said she really really wanted to keep it as her #1 machine and I had to do a lot of talking to get her to let go of it!
She's a couture dress maker, incidentally and had tested it sewing silk etc. I found her a Pfaff 230 as a replacement and she loves it. She compared it with her Bernina 640-2 favorit and said it was impossible to pick a winner.
You can look up the machine's serial number for the exact year of manufacture. I haven't the site bookmarked but it was easy enough to find.
The bobbins can be found easily. I bought a dozen from my Pfaff dealer, just have to make sure that they have the notch so that it will work with the bobbin winder. My Pfaff 60 only came with one bobbin, so I took the bobbin with me so that I could get some more. The bobbins look like a regular class 15 bobbin, but aren't. My dealer gave me a handful to take home and try them out.
