Default I had my hands on....

A FW, but it was $399. Seemed a little much, please tell me that putting it down was the right thing to do! It was in an antique shop here in NH, where we are on vacation.

it was hard to put it down and walk away!

Okay. I'll go first. To me it seems high. Maybe if it were in pristine perfect condition with case, manual and attachments/feet. But only maybe.

It was the right thing to do. I just found a "perfect condition" FW on CL last week for $150. I'm now eating mac and cheese till payday but I have my FW.

Thanks. It wasn't in bad condition, but not perfect eitheR. The cord had been replaced, did not look like all the accessories were there and the box was a little worn. Had it been $200 or less, I'd been eating Mac and cheese too

Yep.... have to agree on this one. You'll find your perfect FW.... it's worth the wait.

You were right to walk away. Unless museum quality way way too much by at least 130.00

If you can find them close to home, wait. The price for Featherweights in the New England states will run from $300-$400. It would be highly unlikely to find it for less.

you were wise to walk away - you can find better pricing on Craigslist or E-bay

Wait until you find the right deal. I wouldn't pay that much either. I'm one of the lucky ones who got mine for $40 in excellent condition. Put the word out to your family and friends to keep their eyes open. You'll find one for lots less than what that shop was selling.
