if the date is correct and the motor is original it would be one of the very early "electrified" machines.

Lovely machine! I have 2 of the pheasant decal treadle machines. There aren't many of them. The birds are a bit odd, but I love the colors.

My hubby will say don't tell me, but I'm wondering if there is a good book which gives basic info on these beautiful old Singer machines. I've purchased several lately and saw an absolute beautiful crinkle finish in a bentwood case at a yard sale Saturday. It was in almost new condition and the owner had family history on it. I don't know the model number, but she remembered her mom sewing on it when she was young. Price was $200. I would like to get good basic info so I can identify and assess what some of these machines are and if they are worth the money etc.

    Steve,

The terminal block/ motor block attached to the case on the right is not original to the machine. It is an after market setup.

Seems like every picture of the machines with long shuttle bobbin has the bobbin cover plate missing.

I read that the back side plate is the one usually missing. This one is missing the front one.

In my experience, it's usually the front missing. It's the one that faces down when the machine is dropped into the cabinet, and tends to be looser, so it falls off when being moved.
