I bought two different needles from Organ Needles, the D1X3 and D1X4. Mine has a bobbin that I got with the machine. So I don't know if a Singer bobbin will fit.

no chance a singer bobbin will fit.. They use TINY little bobbins like the ones used by the American #1

If you have any trouble with finding needles, let me know, I'll send you a couple.

I love the Politype. I will be redoing the upholstery for my 1965 Corvair Corsa on this machine.

Corvair. Nice I have a tore apart 74 super beetle that someday I hope to get back to. Thanks for the offer on the needles. I'll make some calls first and try to locate them. Now that I know it's d1x3 and d1x4 I'll do some detective work. So I guess I better not damage that little bobbin on this machine!

correct. If I remember I will try to compare the American #7 bobbin with the Politype. They look VERY similar in size and construction.

Also my Singer Surgical instruments have a similar bobbin, so I will add that to the comparison....

The machine is otherwise complete, I've had it completely apart and is smoothly running.
BTW are there any bobbins that will fit this? Has anyone tried bobbins for a singer 29 or one of those Chinese modern knockoffs? This is the first machine I've refurbished and would love to get it sewing. Any advice is much appreciated! Next I'll fix up the treadle base if I can get this sewing
A similar magical machine was featured in Adam Sandler's movie, The Cobbler.

I just watched the trailer... how crazy is it that I find this old shoe patcher on craigslist and now this! Well I ordered the needles. Let the magic begin.
