Default Let the magic smoke out of a 403A today.

Stopped by a Red Racks thrift store today because they were having a 50% off sale in honor of St. Patrick, and found a nice condition 403A on a shelf. Plugged it in to test it out, hit the button on the foot controller, and off it went, but the machine soon bogged down, and then smoke started wafting out of the machine.

Never experienced a smouldering sewing machine before.

Also saw a Singer alarm clock and a Singer sandwich press.

Of course. The price was too good to pass it up.

I figured that even if the motor was shot, I could use the slide plate and bobbin race in a 401A I bought that is missing those parts.

There is one screw on the mounting bracket then the two electric hook ups and the motor should drop out
