Default Looking for information on a "Ruby" hand crank

I'm wondering if anyone has information on a "Ruby" hand crank sewing machine. Sorry I do not have a picture but it is a turn of the century, black machine that is similar to the singer 15-88.

My father has one that belonged to his mother, she died in 1944, and the machine may have come from the Boston area. My father and grandmother are both Inuit, (Eskimo) and she was taken as a young girl and sent to Boston to "be educated" this would have been around 1916.

She returned to northern labrador (eastern Canada) with this machine at a point were there was little infrastructure and the only other machines people had access to would have been singers.

It is a strong machine, my father would sew canvas tents on this when I was a child. He is going to give it to me some say soon. I love the look of it, and the story of how my grandmother got it, but I know very little about the machine.

What a history your family has! I'm sure someone will pop in soon with the information you need. I've only seen Ruby machines on EBay.

I've only searched a little, but found the Ruby was made by the New Home sewing machine company. Many of the older New Home machines are similar in operation, though the Ruby is a bit smaller than most. Here is a link to a manual for other New Home machines that might be helpful- http://www.sil.si.edu/DigitalCollect.../sil10-741.pdf
