This is further evidence why I love this place! Thinking of engraving my name on my Kenmore...ok, maybe not, but wishing the ladies (or men) who owned my machines before me had done this. Charlee, you rock!

OK Joe, now that the last name has been decided, just how old is your louise? I'm thinking that it would be interesting to see just how old the original Louise was when she signed her machine. I also wish I knew the owner's names of my vintage machines. I just know the first name of my 1945 FW. Just got to love these old gals. I'm glad that you were able to fix her up and give her a life again.

Well if Louise was born in 1928 she'd be 84 now. The machine, I'm guessing is post WWII. But I just do not have a source for dating it.

Are you sure that's not "Louisi"?

Louise has a lot of the same lines as the 30's & 40's White machines....

    Charlee,

Considering she is a White made machine it sorta follows the family line.

Ah..my implication was that I don't think Louise was too old when she got the machine.

From what I can find on Ancestry, which isn't much, it doesn't look like Louise ever married...and if I'm looking at the right one, died in 2004.

You could be right. Well, if the Louise you found is the same one that owned this machine, I'll think of her when I use it. I made some quilt pieces on her tonight.

Isn't it strange how mechanical things outlive us humans that made and originally bought and used them by many many years?

RIP Louise, I'll take care of your machine.
