My FIRST customized restored sewing machine case. PIC HEAVY
I finished it. YAY! This wood case was experimental since it was my first one. I tried out several different things, one was using my airbrush but that didn't work well so I changed to stenciling. That was much better. I added silver cording in the grooves, and added a little stenciling underneath so when the machine is lifted up you get a nice surprise. The inside is painted a nice white. I still need to do some touch ups on the hinges and a few other places as soon as the weather clears. So far it's a hit. It is sealed with a clear sealer. I have three more to do but it is pouring down rain so I must wait for warmer weather as I paint outdoors. I think the cute little sewing machine inside looks nice in her new case. Her name is Gussie, Latin for venerable.
The worst part was actually ripping off the old covering and airing it out and using about half a bottle of cat pee odor remover and then the sanding. I did get a new tool which was a sander that looks like a little iron. My hubby is starting to be envious of MY tool box!! I did have to putty and then sand again, it was some work but enjoyable and I love being outside with the radio blaring. Enjoy the pics and hopefully someone else will be inspired to "save a case" as I was by Joe's thread.

I LOVE IT!
I've been wondering what one would look like painted. I really love it. Love those stencils too. I've got one sitting on my bench now I've been going to recover. I think I'll sand it some more and paint it to match the machine it goes to.
You did a really great job on that.
Joe

Thank you Joe! I was really hoping my airbrush would work because I can get really into fancy color layers with it but alas the wood is very old and dry and the light weight airbrush paints tended to feather out into all of the wood fractures...badly even though it already had one or two coats of blue on it. Stencils were found at Home Depot, Walmart, Michaels and Joann fabric store and of course on line for any airbrush supply house. Can't wait to see what you come up with. My next one is going to be in peach tones to go with a 306W. Such fun!
Thanks for the nice comments everyone.
