My new 401A

My new 401A
I need to tighten my restrictions. I swear there are only a FEW machines actually on my have to have list. This was one of them. I HAD to have it.
I stumbled right into this beauty at a church rummage sale. The table was closed but I could feel cool metal when I reached underneath. It came with 5 cams, about 20 bobbins, needles, feet and assorted goodies. The machine needs some cleaning but appears to be in very good condition. I even love the table. They wanted 25.00. I paid it as quickly as I could and hurried it out to the car!
Sometimes the price is so low I am afraid someone nearby will overhear and start a bidding war!

You have a lovely machine and a nice compact cabinet to go with.
DH and I had a similar experience getting his 403A. She was being used as a display table in a stall at an antique mall. I also reached under and felt cold metal. Since she had stuff piled on top, I got down and peaked and could see it was a 400 series. Since my husband had just passed up a 403A in another shop that was for sale at $125 - I called him over. We cleaned the table off and opened her up - and saw a nice 403A. DH paid $35 for her, no "extras" but she was still worth the price.

Good choice of machine. I hope you get the service out of your 401A like we do out of ours. My wife and I have 5 of them (2 get alternated in use at the shop, 1 at the house, and 2 on standby), and two girls in the family each have one of their own.
That reminds me. I have a new DIL as of March of this year. I’d better get one of the standby machines ready to go to Colorado....
