Default mystery tool attatchment?

This clamp thing was in the drawer of my 'new" Model 12. What is it supposed to do?

Thanks.

It looks like it was a part of a tucker, maybe.

Leon, there was something similar to that in that bag of Wilcox and Gibbs bits. I have no clue what it is.

I think it mighth be a tuck marker, or part of an attachment set. I have seen similar on the older machines, sort or WWI and earlier. If found this video, but it's not spot on.

Here's a picture I found on Helen Howes site.

The last page, 11, of the instructions for using the New Family shows this and it is a tucker. Unfortunately the drawing is not detailed enough. My tucker looks as though part has been broken off.

BTW that hook that slides on the bar hooks on the needle. You are missing the part that mounts to the bed. It also looks like the end that would mark the tuck is broken or missing.

I couldn't for the life of me figure out what you guys were talking about so I watched the video. What great fun that was. The sound of the machine as it sew along is magical. And great tucks were made. I'm so glad I saw this. Thanks for the good time!
