Néechi 554 sewing machine

Néechi 554 sewing machine
DH found one in a nice cabinet for $45 and we are wondering if it's worth it. It's slightly pinkish, not a supernova. Any ideas about its worth ? I'd love to post a picture but not sure how to do it off my cell phone. There are no attachments or manual but it's a beauty. Thanks for any ideas.

This is a later model Italian Necchi I believe, so the thing to look for is there's one plastic gear in the top near the hand wheel. If it's cracked or broken, the machine is done for.

Some Necchis have that plastic gear, some don't. There are plenty of necchis still working just fine. As long as it hasn't cracked it's a good machine. There's more and better info on the VintageNecchi Yahoo group.
