Default Need help with WW9

I have it all cleaned and oiled and it sews a fine stitch, however I have 2 questions for you experts out there. When I wind my bobbin the needle bar still goes up and down even though I have loosened the knob to disengage. How do I fix or is that not a problem. Second I have a problem with what I assume is the brake. In reviewing the manual a helpful board member sent me it appears their should be a metal belt guard/brake assembly. Mine does not have that but it has a wood block that I assume is to serve the same purpose. However, that wood block has a lot of side to side play and appears to knock the belt askew. Poor picture attached. Suggestions anyone?

oreo,

"Generally" when the needle bar keeps reciprocating after the stop motion knob is released it's because of old gummed up oil between the hand wheel and main shaft. You'll need to remove the hand wheel, and thoroughly clean both the bore of the wheel and the shaft. Make sure there is no burrs or dents or gouges on the shaft or inside the wheel, ( I've had to polish out a few although why they are there is beyond me ) then put one drop of oil on the shaft. Just enough to prevent bare metal against bare metal. That should take care of the problem.

I don't know anything about the break. Sorry I can't help there.

And see Muv's video at the top of this thread on how to clean up an old machine, Good videos on youtube too, as sometimes it is the stop motion washer put in backwards.
