So are you saying that if I left the machine as a hand crank machine I could use needles that don't actually work with the machine? Right now it's using a needle that makes really good stitches but I am using the tractor knob. I'm just going to have to compare to the decal like you said.

It will be difficult to find a whole new motor/light/controller mechanism to fit this machine. And if you're motor that came with still looks as it does in the pictures you won't need one.

No, I'm not saying that. I'm only saying that it may still make stitches with a wrong needle at such slow speeds, but I wouldn't count on that.

The entire wire isn't cut off of the motor but I know nothing electrical or how you'd put two wire pieces back together and I really don't want to try that and burn anything down.

How much wire is left on the motor? You may be able to take it to a hardware store (think small, local store, NOT big giant store) and buy a plug and ask them to put it on for you, but if the plug is polarized you'll have to have a polarized socket on your power block.

Do you think I should just use it as a hand crank "tractor knob" machine? I mean it works fine as it is, it is unfortunate that I have no idea about anything or how to make it operate as an electric again.

On a side note, do most people go for Singer machines over these? I swear when I was searching online I read about a lady that came across a free westinghouse machine but didn't give it a second glance because everything for it is so rare. The needles, parts etc.

I just wonder if I got myself into a big disaster? haha

Yes, Singers are more abundant, and therefore easier, but this machine sews a fine stitch, and you have accessories for it. Don't give up on it just yet.

Then I would take it to a hardware store as suggested. If you're making a wooden base for it the plug should still easily reach the power block.
