That seems high to me. I think it's a VS 2, but can't tell if it has the metal 'shovel' swing door on the front - it might just be dirty.

Here's one that looks similar:

My wife said she'd pay a $100.00 for it. Me, I'd offer $75.00 and see if the seller would come down a bit.

The version without the trapezoidal access door is a VS1. 1885 - 1887, "experimental, very low production" according to wikipedia. I'd like to know how low is very, but does the rarity make you more, or less interested? I'd easily pay that, especially because it looks complete.

Oh, hang about: It has a fiddle bed. That makes it not a VS1. Now I'm confused, it might be between the two models, still experimental. Late VS1? Look for the serial number. I'd expect it will date to 1887.

Looks like VS1 to me which is an uncommon machine as they were only made a couple years:

This also means bobbins are uncommon and I believe it uses a slighty uncommon needle (20x1). Do you plan on frequent treadling?

The man selling it says it has the date 1885 on it..not sure if he got that from the serial number? I don't think she is very ornate...I am hopin when she arrives tomorrow night she has the carnation pattern...and I think I see blue thread on her bobbin.she definately needs a good cleaning....
