I think the linkage part looks the same or very similar to the "modern" ones (by that I mean the 128 I have here)
can we see a pic of the hole the lever goes in from the front?

And I'm going to ask a dumb question, but it has to be asked:
The knee bar isn't fastened into the underside of the lid, is it?

@ ArchaicArcane, the lever/hole is in the front of the machine... the hole is 3/8" wide and about 7/8" in deep. Once someone told me it was a knee lever I was looking for vice a foot peddle I did look inside the lid to see if it was attached to the underside with no luck (there are hinges inside which I am assuming is where the lever would have been stored), and then opened the machine up from the base -again nothing.

I did go ahead an try and make a clay mold of the inside of the lever connection... not sure if this will help...

If you look inside the round hole, is there a little protrusion on the left, a little lower than the one that looks like it made the slot on the clay impression?

If you put a popsicle stick into the hole, it should fit with just a little wiggle room. Turn it counter clockwise, does it seem like it could -almost, but not quite make the mechanism work?

Yes, there is a little protrusion on the left side as you described. I tilted the machine back from the base and as I turned the stick counterclockwise I could watch the mechanisms moving..... do you think the knee lever you have could work with this machine? Or could it be modified (with DH's assistance) to work? Unfortunately I did not figure out what the knee lever looked like until Sunday and the estate sale was over, otherwise I would have gone back and spent some time snooping around to try and find it!

I think there's a good chance of it working or being modified to work. It will be easier to find for sure.
I'm only guessing of course, I've never had one of those sweet looking 24s in my hands.

This is the one you're looking for, no affiliation, and I don't even know if it's a good price.
