Default Paging SteveH

Steve,

Rather than hijacking the other thread any more, I thought I'd ask you to expound on your Googlefu and try to find me a set of latches for a New Home bentwood case from the 20s.

Just to be clear, here is what they look like:

This set is on my New Home Greyhound, so I can't rob them.

Now, "IF" you should find such a set of latches, could you post the wording you used on here so I can perhaps learn something?

TIA

Joe

Ok, well I'll start by saying I could not find what you wanted at this time.

I got the same bunch of Singer stuff until i typed "new home case latch -singer" (without the quotes)

I did however find these which may work. The seller says singer, but they all tend to say that anyway....

Or I can make you a set...

Most people don't have a clue what they have for sale - and when it doubt call it Singer or even Featherweight LOL!!

But those are what Joe is looking for - all cleaned up and pretty!

Joe - if you decide to pass on them, let me know.

Those are a little nicer than the latch in Joe's picture. It looks like they have a catch so the don't pop open unexpectedly. The price isn't completely unreasonable considering uniqueness and current hardware prices. I don'r know enough about early Singer cases (or any others) to know in they're Singer or not.
Rodney

EDIT: I was wrong. They are the same and are spring loaded, not a catch. The spring is on the back side. If you look close you can see the end of the spring on Joe's latch.

The problem with the ones on eBay, I found them earlier by accident, is that the seller admitted breaking the top screws.
Those are special screws and would have to be custom made.
And the $64.00 question ..... are they the same size as those I need? Seller doesn't say and I don't feel like asking.

MacyBaby, if you want 'em, go for 'em.
