DeskDaves.com. is a fun place to look. I got one from them, and they are wonderful to work with! Really go the extra mile!

www.roxannequilts.com "ROXANE' A WIH AND A DREAM", a shop in Carpinteria, CA has panted featherweights that she sells. They are spendy but about the usual I have been quoted. Can't imagine where you would find one for $500

I have seen them at the larger quilt shows...
One of the people that sell them is from the Midwest...but couldn't tell you where or who. Sorry.

Ladyinpurple,
I would find the polka dots to be too distracting.
I have a fw that I had repainted a lovely dark metal flake purple, the paint looks a bit different depending on where you're standing. The paint color is a called "radar blue" was original to a 2004 PT Cruiser. The top picture is more true to color.
The finish on my machine was in very poor condition, however it sewed beautifully. All of the clear coat was gone as were the decals. There was no paint left on the front edge of the machine and along the front bottom edge.

There is a tutorial here about repainting your own:

No, I did not repaint mine (my avatar) myself. I just happened to check craigslist at the right time to see it just listed. It is a beautiful metallic purple and I got it for a bargain price. I am sorry I do not know who painted it. The sellers mother had bought it for her before she moved to Portland, and my only clue is a service tag from a dealer in Houston. So she could have got it from dealer at the show.
