Drove up to Redding again today to take my auntie out for a birthday breakfast. She is 85 years young and the sweetest most fun person in the family also being the matriarch.

After we said our goodbyes I drove home along a hwy. through a little town instead of the interstate because it is slower paced and it has lots of thrift shops along the way to browse in and in the last store I spied a smallish black sewing machine.

She's home with me now. Bet you all saw that one coming...

Has all original items and manual still with her and I bargained them down to $30.00 which is very good for around here. Anyone else have one of these?

I have the 130 model, which is pretty much the same with the exception that it also does zig zag stitching. I've never seen much of anything that it wouldn't sew through. Most likely if the timing belt is in good shape, you should have a machine that will last forever! Good buy, I'd say.

Thank you. I really like the Zigzag machines so this one may be one I let go. I have been reading online reviews about it and everyone that has one really likes it except they say the bobbin is hard to get to.

Sunflowerzz, I would love to see a photo of the bobbin, bobbin case, and how to get to it!

Wondering, because I have never seen a Pfeffer 130 or 131 in person, but my Anker Phoenix is purported to be a Pfeffer 130 knock off, and its bobbin case is a bit unusual (has a wee hook on the exterior for the thread to pass through) and is also funkily hard to get to. I would be so curious to see yours, if you are inclined to post some close-ups!

It is really tucked in there and pretty hard to negotiate the removal and reinsertion of the bobbin with the plate still in place even though it was pulled back all of the way. I found tipping the machine over and approaching from the underside was easier.

Lucky you!!! Would love to have a vintage Pfaff but haven't stumbled across a reasonably priced one yet. I keep looking and hoping to see one.

Thanks Chris, the machine is beautiful, still dirty because I havn't cleaned it yet. Last night I had to remove the top case and set it outside. It smelled like the worst thrift store you have ever been in and smelled up the house. Even Daphne was complaining and wouldn't settle down for nighty night until I removed the top and took it out of the house. Then she crawled on her blanket covered couch in the living room and went to sleep. It must have really bothered her sensitive nose. Poor baby. So this morning I pulled the machine from the bottom and now the case is sitting outside. I hope it eventually airs out.

Stuff the case full of dryer sheets or odor eaters or baking soda or deodorant soap or give it a sponge bath and some sunshine.........
