Cool Pics of my Singer JB291470 - J. Miller, Charlee, Caroline

Here are the pics I took of my "Eye & Trefoils" (I think) My info says between 1936-1948 & another column said 15. Hope these help as I would really like to know exactly what it is.

I think I may be able to answer my own question. When I checked the site again I am almost positive it is a 15-91.
They show a machine on the first page & it looks almost exactly like the one that I have. Will look forward to hear what you "experienced" members have to say. Tks so much for your input.

Yes, you have a 15-91. I think it is the potted motor that makes that determination.

    callan,

I'm pretty sure it's a 15-91. Somebody will correct me if I'm wrong. Note the potted motor, the round indicator plate for the stitch length lever, and the upper tension controls on the face plate facing left.

Nice machine, how does it sew?

I don't know Joe, as it did not come with a manual or any accessories. It does not have a bobbin so I couldn't try it out. I know I can download a manual but I guess I will have to look for a bobbin, probably on eBay. Tks for the help. I love this board because you can learn something new every day & everyone is so generous with their knowledge.

    callen,

It uses standard class 15 bobbins and 15x1 needles. You don't need to go to eBay for those. Most any fabric shop that carries sewing supplies will have them. Also any sewing machine shop will too.
JoAnns has them I know for sure. Just don't buy the 10 pack in the plastic box. Those are junk. The smaller pack in the blister card are OK. Singer sells them too if you find someplace that sells Singer stuff. Schmetz is one of the best needles to buy.

    Go here: http://www.singerco.com/accessories/instruction-manuals
Type in 15-91 in the little box and it will pop up a free .pdf file to download.

There you go, all set now.

I couldn't get the full manual to upload, but here's an abbreviated version that shows the operation of the machine.

Tks Joe. We don't have Joann'e here in Canada, at least no where close to where I live. I don't think they are here at all but I use Schmetz needles all the time (I agree they are the best) & we have a Singer retailer here so I will try him.
The lady that gave me the machine only had the machine & the foot. My DH made the wooden base for it so it would sit flat & I could use it. I had already seen the pdf file for the manual, just haven't printed it off yet as my printer is acting contrary today. Many tks for your help & input.

    Carol,

Here is another source for accessories:
    http://shop.sew-classic.com/

I'm pretty sure she ships to Canada. But I won't swear to it. She has just about anything you'll need.

Tks so much but I was able to get the manual to download & print it out from the ISMACS site.
