My Alden Super Deluxe Zig Zag SUZ-2 has two plastic cam stacks as well as some other control parts in there. Beautiful sewing machine, quiet, smooth, sews wonderful stitches, weighs a ton, but that plastic turns me off. I wouldn't have bought it had I known about the plastic pieces.

I have put some Tri-Flow grease on these cams. Just to help the steel follower follow the contours.

Is it the center one where the foot is? It almost looks like it should be ducks. That machine is similar to my Underwood 142B but the cams in mine are metal and all together. I love the sound it makes. If it wasn't a left needle machine it would be one of my favorites.[ATTACH=CONFIG]489370[/ATTACH]

Looks like they may have come from the same factory. The emblems in the center of the bed, the tensions and the reverse buttons on them look identical to me. Both look like fun. I haven't managed to get a good dashboard machine like those yet.

From the left edge of the presser foot, count four rows left. You can see the missing stitch. It looks like a design until you stretch the stitch out then the missing stitch is obvious. You can see that down towards the bottom.


Those two machine do look like peas from the same pod. Do you have a manual for yours? I don't for mine and have burned the internet up looking for one. No luck. I have most of the controls figured out, but without a manual I'll never get it all figured out.

The Goodwill in your town has been a good source of machines for me in the past. So has the Visiting Nurses store.

Yes I have a manual for mine, last year someone on the vintage Japanese Yahoo group posted pics of his Simon 142b, same machine, and sent me the manual. I've since found the machine under several names, some with different colors or different noses but still the same model #. Super Deluxe, Modern, Underwood, International, Simon and Remington are the names. Maybe you could use one of these names with your model # to try searching. I'll try to pm you with my manual, maybe it will help.

As for looking for machines that are similar to mine I've done that many times. So for no success.
