The antique dealer is lying through their teeth. Greed knows no bounds...

Not only are featherweights going for $400 and up, the one your friend has is a VERY EARLY model, if it's indeed a 1934 model. The 221 was only introduced the year before, in '33. A 1934 model in decent condition will bring an even higher price to the right collector. The early ones are hard to find, and rare. In later years Singer was producing 50,000 a year, but only 10,000 were made in 1934. It's rare.

BE sure to tell her not to sell it to your other friend for $50.00. She either doesn't know anything about FW's or wants to buy it for a steal and really make a lot of money on it. If it is in great shape, with case and all it is well worth $200.00. The owner might go on ebay and sell it for even more. BEfore she sells it, tell her to check them out on Ebay and see what they are selling for on there.

Well if you can get it for that price GO For It. That would be a good buy and you would really enjoy using it.To be sure to find out what year it is go to the singer site and check out the serial number on it. That will tell you what year it is.

If that antique dealer has any to sell for $50.00 let me know I will buy one from them, even without a case.

If I lived in the PA area, I would purchase the FW for $50....and then some.

If it were my mother’s sewing machine it would be priceless. Wouldn’t think of selling it.

I hope you are asking upwards to 400$.
That is what I see them going for 'round here.
I'd love to have one, just cannot spend that kinda money on one.

I just bought mine on Ebay this week. I've been watching and bidding on several but they were going over $300. I finally bought one for $229 and was happy to get it!

My sewing machine repair person said my FW, in it's condition and case would bring right around $900. That just about floored me.
