Three cheers for rocksew. Just what we all needed. Where does the non motor end of the spring connect inside the pillar?

Opalstar, once you take off the stop motion clutch wheel off you will find the weird lock washer between it and the handwheel. make sure you keep track of which side faces which wheel.

leonf, the spring just slides over a rod, I can't photograph it but it's pretty obvious.

Oh, that's the first time I see this type of motor off the machine. I have seen a similar White machine, but with the motor was separate in the back. It had the same friction wheel running directly on the hand wheel. This model has a very neat and mininalistic exterior.

Well, I did all of that and it's much better. When I first start it the motor is still down but when I bring it up it stays up. Do I still need a bigger wheel? Sew-Classic says they have no parts for this machine. If I need a bigger wheel do you know of any place else? I bought this machine to sew thick leather. Has anyone used one for leather? After fixing it, it was good with thin and medium leather but didn't like thicker leather. I am using the rotary needles and regular thread. Thicker thread and maybe a different needle may be best if it can sew thicker leather. Thank you so much for your time and help . I must say i am quite impressed, not only with your knowledge but also your willingness to send pictures etc. :-)

I am puzzled why you think you need to lift the motor up when you are done sewing. I only do that If I am going to leave it for more than a few weeks. No need to lift it up in a day of sewing.


If you can do medium leather on it, you don't need to be in a rush to get the friction wheel.

I hate to tell you this, but this is not designed for thick leather. Many industrials won't even handle thick leather. If that is your goal you need to do some serious research into what you need. I am a bit surprised that it will do medium leather.

I lift it when I begin and now it stays up and connects to the wheel. Before I would lift it and it would go down so I had to hold it up. Sorry for the confusion. Sewing medium leather is fine. Thanks for letting me know about the thick leather. I will sew thick leather by hand. Thanks again for all the help.

opalstar, the motor should be pushing against the handwheel at all times, it sounds like that spring still isn't quite right.

When I took the screws out of the motor(the first time before I contacted you all) there were 2 small springs with a small black plastic cubes under 2 of the screws. Are the the springs you mean or the bigger spring when I took the motor off? I wasn't sure of the placement for the bigger spring. It goes on a cylinder just like you said. When I put the motor back on it seemed to fit OK. Is there something else I should do?
