I would keep this machine. It looks so pretty. And probably all metal.

Welcome from Houston! Sadly, your fellow Texan can't help you at all with the machine, but it's very nice to have something that belonged to another quilter in your family.

That is a beautiful machine, and I'm thinking you can really learn to sew on it, and enjoy it. (Oh yes, I plan to fly down to Texas in September, and that's when I was considering a visit with you.)

hey! from philly, got here from dallas. welcome to the board! looks sort of like a necchi to me, but i'm no expert! try JMiller, he seems pretty up on things. and there are others over there too. good luck! fine looking machine, and i'd be all goosebumpy knowing my gramma or great gramma had touched the same machine as me. can't buy that!

Welcome! Your machine looks quite like some of the old Montgomery Wards machines made in Japan- right down to the color. Google for pics and maybe a free manual online?

Thanks for the welcome, M. Elizabeth. My Granny used to have a machine with a foot treadle, too. But it was loaned to a great-granddaughter who "lost" it. Strange things happen, I guess. Never met anyone from NC before. How's the weather there?

Thanks for the welcome. I recall Grandmother hand-sewing quilts, but not using a machine. Knotting the strings…wish I had asked more about it when she was still with us.
