I have never drove for a machine but if I really wanted it I would go pretty far. Maybe 6 or 7 hours...

I drove for 1 1/2 hrs to pick up what I thought was one machine for 20 dollars (WW#9) but she sold me an older White treadle plus her mom's prized Kenny in a beautiful cabinet for another $20 each. Yes I drove the gas hog but it was so worth the 3 hours for 3 machines. I drove by myself with my coffee & music so I consider it time well spent.

ahhh a girl that knows how to do it. Enjoying life. :) It is one of our prime directives isn't it.

My limit seems to be about 1 1/2 hours right now, although recently I was thinking 2 hours was not that far for a machine I really wanted. I actually enjoy these trips, usually go on Sunday mornings, get coffee, something sweet, life is good! |
We travel a lot for many stupid reasons. One, 30 miles every Tues. to have fried onion burgers with friends. Two, 145 miles for lunch with friends a couple of times a year who live 145 miles the other way! Three, 90 miles often to have breakfast with friends, so there is no telling how far I would go to get a machine I really liked. DH is always willing to drive 55 miles to my favorite quilt shop, (I tell him I think he just goes to see the sweet gal who owns the shop),even thought we have several shops here in town. Lastly, we go 7 hours to see great granddaughter several times a year!

Well, it looks like I am going for a record here.... I am going from the SF bay area to Walla Walla Washington.
The current plan is to leave this Friday at or around 11pm, drive 13 hours north, buy a machine, turn around and drive 13 hours back.... Three drivers going along. |

So far my machines have come within about 45 min or so but then again I am kind of new to this syndrome of vintage machine acquiring
Unfortunately when we travel we fly since it's mostly been cross country and it's much easier and cost effective to fly so no buying machines while on the road! LOL |
