If you're looking for quick and easy, I'd go with rail fence. You can make the squares 12" and do a 48 x 60 . . . and use up all your scraps.

Rail fence? Please elaborate.

Here's a couple I made. If you stay at it should only take a day. If you want 12 inch blocks take four 3 1/2 inch stips, sew together and cut the strips into 12 1/2 inch blocks. Then lay them out and sew. that simple.

OK, now that looks interesting.

Thanks,

For the VA hospital, they want the lap robes to be 42"x54" for wheelchair patients. If not in a wheelchair, I would make it longer, 66"-72" and maybe 50 inches wide.

Why not try 10 Minute blocks? They make up super fast and 9 of them make a quilt about 58 x 58. Good size and really quick. Varying the color scheme changes the whole look of the quilt and you can a little fussy cut something in the middle when you fold it over.

Boy you can sure tell I'm not an experienced quilter. What are 10 Minute blocks?

Hi Joe,

in reply to your question about the 10 minute block, have a look at these links:

Would you consider table runners? Here's an idea:

or even pot holders?

http://www.quiltingboard.com/tutoria...t-t175916.html

My lap quilts are usually square shaped between 36" x 36" to 44" x44". I have made one that is 56" x 56". I think you need to decide what size and shape you think would be most saleable and take it from there.

Hope this helps. Would be interested to know how you get on. Best wishes. :)
