Oh, I'm sure it's sew! pardon the pun. That store is in Amish country Ohio. Have been there and they have every thing retro you could ever dream of.

Holy moly! For $1400, I can buy lots of good vintage machines!

Patty55 01-19-2013 07:43 PM

I'm sure that's a great machine and the cabinet is probably built to last forever. But it's not in my budget!

Krisb 01-19-2013 08:19 PM

The machine lists for $249, so most of the price must be in the cabinet. It's a Janome 712t. If you could find an intact Treadle base to drop the head into, you would save a lot of money.

Wow, that is pricey!!!!!

Mitch's mom 01-20-2013 07:24 AM

The price is for the cabinet. As Krisb said the machine is a Janome that lists for 249.00 and will fit in any Singer treadle base.

Wow, I can see Doomsday Preppers lining up!

Well, my curiosity is how much is Lehmans paying for it? I figure at least a 25% mark up if not more. If you could go direct to the manufacturer you could lower the price a bunch.

Or go to Omaha, NE and get an original treadle for 6.00 + gas.

If you are ever in east central Ohio, that store - Lehman's is awesome to visit! Very fun and interesting Amish-centered store. Most everything is aimed at Amish users of non -electric appliances and tools. The Amish- made furniture is not cheap, but well made.

There are also plenty of great Amish quilt/fabric stores in the area!
